  • Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance contains hundreds of essays on a vast variety of subjects concerning religion and morality presented in as unbiased a way as possible. Also contains descriptions of dozens of Christian denominations and over 60 non-Christian religions. (available for purchase on CD - see site). Highly recommended!
  • Adherents.com full of statistics about different religions around the world
  • Religious Movements contains profiles of over two hundred small, little known, often misunderstood religious movements, including many newer groups (don’t call them "cults"!). Includes information on history, beliefs and practices of the groups as well as some controversial issues related to various groups.
  • "Religion and Ethics Newsweekly" is a half hour program airing Sunday mornings on PBS TV covering news and information about and concerning religion in today’s world. At this site you can review current and past stories by week and by topic. A number of such stories have accompanying video clips (using RealPlayer). I highly recommend watching this program!
  • Internet Sacred Text Archive contains contents of sacred texts from dozens of religions including traditional and esoteric faiths as well as Eastern and Western religions. A useful resource.
  • beliefnet includes areas for on-line chats and discussions with people of different religions in addition to other interesting and informative resources
  • The Pluralism Project provides resources on religious diversity in America, including demographics and profiles on a variety of religions and religious centers across the country.
  • The Freedom Forum and the First Amendment Center for information about first amendment rights. There you can browse news stories related to religious rights issues.
  • Religion News Service "aims to be the largest single source of news about religion, spirituality and ideas. We strive to inform, illuminate and inspire public discourse on matters relating to belief and convictions."
  • Pew forum: Religion & Public Life: provides access to surveys, religion in the news and other contemporary social issues related to religion.
  • A Sourcebook For Earth's Community of Religions (the on-line version archived from the book edited by Joel Beversluis). "Initially created as a resource for participants in the 1993 Parliament of the World's Religions, this SourceBook is a unique anthology, bringing together elements characteristic of many different kinds of publications-- religious studies and reference materials, public documents, inspirational reflections, prayers and scriptural texts, political and ecological analysis, directory information, and annotated resource guides." Contains essays on all the world's major religions as well as other faith traditions, such as indigenous beliefs, wicca, and esoteric philosophies. Also contains other resources for building a multifaith community of religions.
  • Faith & Reason from PBS. Examines topics typically a matter of debate and dispute between science and religion, with an eye to finding areas of agreement and compromise.
  • The Interfaith Conference of Metropolitan Washington promotes interfaith relations in the DC Metro area. Provides for a variety of opportunities to attend and participate in events such as the Fall Interfaith Concert, the Spring Public Dialogue, and occasional local pilgrimages and special workshops. IFC also provides volunteer and internship opportunities to help promote their work.
