General
Overview
|
Open Educational Resources are
textbooks and other educational tools that are available
for free or very low cost. For my classes, I seek free
PDF OER textbooks that cover all required course
material and are of high pedagogical quality. On this
page, I provide links to websites that contain OER
textbooks vetted by experts. I also describe the OER
textbooks that I have already used in my own math
teaching, as well as additional OER textbooks that I am
considering for future use. I will also investigate
websites that offer free mathematical tools that can be
incorporated into any math course. High quality OER
materials are increasingly available, so there is no
sacrifice in academic quality in adopting OER materials.
They are convenient for me, as an instructor, because I
now have PDF textbooks stored on my computer, available
for class, office, and home use. My students have free
and immediate access to the required course textbook,
without bureaucratic delays or financial barriers. |
