Motivating questions:
I wanted a general platform for presenting classroom lectures. Also, I wanted a convenient method of taking notes in meetings, such that I could easily edit and distribute the notes.
OneNote allows both text typing and digital inking. With my tablet PC, I
can thus write in OneNote and project what I am doing in the classroom.
Using the Windows Snipping Tool, I can take screen shots of the output of
various math programs and of textbook items and paste them into a
OneNote page. After each lecture, I save the corresponding OneNote page as a
PDF file and upload it to my course website, via Microsoft Expression Web 4,
making classroom notes available to all students.
Anyone who is familiar with Microsoft Word should have no difficulty in using OneNote. Items can be organized in notebooks, folders, sections, and pages. A search feature allows one to search throughout all the saved OneNote files for any item. OneNote saves everything automatically on a continous basis.
By clicking on the "?" for Help, within the program, one can find
instructions on various aspects of OneNote. The ribbon at the top of the
page is similar to that of Word.
OneNote is part of the Microsoft Office Suite. OneNote 2016 comes with Office 365, which is available to NOVA faculty.
This is free for NOVA faculty. |
